Inter Air is one of South Africa’s most successful privately owned airlines, based in Johannesburg. It operates scheduled passenger flights and services from Johannesburg to regional destinations in Africa, as well as to Reunion, Madagascar and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its main base is OR Tambo International Airport.
The airline was established in 1993 but only started operations in 1994. It originally operated domestic flights and services in South Africa but has since ceased all those flights and services. Regional flights and services were started in April 1995 using a fleet of Boeing aircraft. Other than their scheduled routes, they also offer tailor-made chartered flights.
Inter Air has positioned itself as a regional carrier connecting French speaking African countries, which is viewed as a growing market that has been under served for many years.
Passengers need to take care and ensure that they are in possession of identification as well as a passport and any visas that may be essential. It should also be noted that many of the destinations that Inter Air flies to also requires a yellow fever certificate. Be prepared and make sure that you have all the required documentation at hand before heading to the airport to avoid any complications.
The airline currently does not offer an online or mobile check-in service for its passengers. This means that passengers need to appear at the check-in counter at the airport.
