South African Express
South African Express is a state-owned airline that is based in South Africa. The airline was established in 1994 and although the airline is operationally independent of South African Airways, its flights are incorporated within the strategic alliance with South African Airways. The airline has its head office at Airways Park, which is located next to OR Tambo International Airport. The holding company of the airline is the South African Airline Holdings, which is solely owned by the South African Government.
South African Express became the first airline in the country to implement a new method of taxiing after landing that causes the aircraft to burn less fuel as well as cutting the fuel emissions.
The airline operates a fleet of 24 aircrafts flying to around 19 destinations.
South African Express allows passengers one piece of cabin luggage that does not exceed the weight limit of 7kg.
The free baggage allowances as set out by South African Express are as follows:
- Adult passengers have a checked baggage allowance of 20kg
- Child passengers have a checked baggage allowance of 20kg
- Infant passengers have a checked baggage allowance of 10kg
It must be noted that baggage weighing more than 32kg per piece will not be accepted. If the baggage weight is more than 32kg then that piece of luggage must be checked in as air cargo at specified air cargo rates.
