Egypt Air


Egypt Air is the flag carrier airline of Egypt and it originates way back to as far as pre-World War Two. The airline started in 1933 with its first commercial flight from Cairo International Airport. It operates flights from Johannesburg to most destinations in the world via Cairo.

The airline has been a member of Star Alliance since 2008 and was awarded the winner of Africa’s leading Airline in 2011 at the World Travel Awards.

Egypt Air also has one of the most generous baggage allowances and still today, it offers relatively cheap flights to many destinations with reliable flight schedules and a good value for money flight experience.

The check baggage allowance and the hand luggage allowance for Egypt Air via international routes are as follows:

  • First and Business Class Two pieces of checked luggage at 32kg each and two pieces of hand luggage at 8kg each.
  • Economy Class Two pieces of checked luggage at 23kg each and one piece of hand luggage at 8kg.

If passengers are card holders, extra luggage allowance may be granted, depending on the class of the flight and card.

According to the airline, passengers checked baggage may not exceed 32kg per piece. This is in accordance with the local occupational safety rules. Passengers are required to repack their baggage as baggage over 32kg will not be accepted and must be shipped separately as freight or cargo.

Egypt Air is considered to be the second largest African airline and its widespread route network offers flights to around 79 destinations worldwide. Some of the most popular routes offered are as follows:
